How do I find my Wi-Fi password?

Check the label on the router first — the network name and password are usually printed right on it.

Check the label on your router. The Wi-Fi network name and password are usually printed there, and if nobody has changed them, that label is still correct.

Look on the bottom, back, or side of the unit. You're looking for a network name (sometimes labeled SSID, Network, or Wi-Fi Name) and a password (sometimes labeled Key, Passphrase, or Wi-Fi Password). Passwords on these labels are case-sensitive, and a printed `0` is a zero, not a letter O.

Our standard rental router is a TP-Link HX510, a Wi-Fi 6 router. Turn it over — the label on the underside prints the default network name and the default Wi-Fi password. If nobody has changed them, that label is your answer and you are done.

Sign in at myaccount.bostonbroadband.com and look at your service details.

Or check the app. If you rent a router from us, you can see and manage it in the Boston Broadband app or by signing in at myaccount.bostonbroadband.com. That is the better answer when someone has already changed the password and the label is out of date.

If a laptop is already connected, it remembers the password:

  1. Windows — open Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi, choose your network, then open its properties and reveal the security key.
  2. Mac — open Keychain Access, search for your network name, open it, and check Show password. You'll enter your Mac login password.
  3. iPhone or iPad (iOS 16 and later) — open Settings → Wi-Fi, tap the i next to your network, then tap the hidden Password field to reveal it.
  4. Android — open Settings → Network & internet → Internet, tap your network, then tap Share. It shows a QR code and, on most phones, the password underneath.

If the password on the label doesn't work, someone has probably changed it. You can set a new one — see Change your Wi-Fi name or password.
