Fenway-Kenmore packs six colleges, a ballpark that empties tens of thousands of people onto Jersey Street eighty-one times a summer, and blocks of 1920s brick walk-ups into about a square mile. All three change how internet actually gets installed here.

The lease calendar runs the neighborhood: most apartments turn over the last week of August, churn again in January when semesters flip, and again in May when sublets start. Whoever orders internet is usually new to the building and has no idea what is already in the wall.

The residential core behind Landmark Center — Peterborough, Queensberry, Park Drive, Kilmarnock — is pre-1930 brick, four to six stories, fed by one legacy riser that was never sized for the number of units the building now holds. The coax is decades of patchwork: splitters stacked on splitters, dead drops from tenants who left years ago, an unlabeled demarcation point in the basement.

Fiber does not share. A drop to your unit is your capacity, not a slice of what the building is doing at nine on a Sunday night. Where forty people are streaming and a third are on calls, that is the whole difference.

Newer construction on Boylston Street and Van Ness is a different job — structured cabling and a real telecom room, so the work is a cross-connect rather than a pull. Either way the first question is about your building, not your street: is it lit, and if not, who signs for the entry?

Game days are an install constraint, not a metaphor

Eighty-one regular-season home games, plus concerts, plus October when the season goes well. On a game day Jersey Street closes, Lansdowne fills, and the blocks around the park stop being parkable by mid-afternoon. A van with a fiber reel does not fit into that.

So if your appointment lands on a home game, take a morning slot. If you are moving in during a homestand, order early enough that we are not competing with thirty thousand people for curb space. Checking the schedule before you pick a date is the easiest way to avoid a reschedule here.

Game nights break the fallback plan too. With the park full, the cell sites on those blocks are carrying a stadium's worth of phones, so the hotspot you meant to lean on until install day will not save you.

My Fenway building is from the 1920s. Does that rule out fiber?
No. Age changes the route, not the outcome. Fiber enters at the basement demarcation point and rides the existing riser or a new low-profile run. The survey decides which.
Will a Red Sox home game affect my installation?
It affects access, not service. Street closures and parking around the park make afternoon appointments harder during a homestand, so take a morning slot.
Do you cover 02115 as well as 02215?
Fenway straddles both. 02215 is Kenmore and the blocks by the ballpark; 02115 picks up the Symphony and Museum side. Availability is per building in each.
I am subletting for one semester. Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Boston Broadband has never required one, so a four-month sublet is fine. Start service, cancel when you leave, no early termination fee.
