How do I get fiber into my building?

It's four steps — a site survey, an access agreement signed by the property owner, in-building wiring, then service turn-up — and it starts with a call or the request form on our properties page.

Fiber not being in your building is common, and it is not the end of the conversation. In many Boston, Brookline and Cambridge buildings fiber is already present or a short path away. Here's how a building gets connected.

We look at whether fiber already reaches the building, where it can enter, and how it travels from the entry point to the units or suites. The survey is what an install date is quoted from. We'd rather give you a date we can hold than a lead time that reads well on a web page.

The property owner signs an access agreement before installation. A tenant cannot authorize this, however much they want the service. If you're a resident or a business in someone else's building, the useful thing you can do is put us in touch with the owner or the management company.

Fiber enters at the MPOE and lands on a router in the MDF. From there it runs up the risers and out to individual units over Cat6 or fiber. Common-area Wi-Fi and a separate network for building systems — locks, cameras, HVAC — can be built at the same time.

Units come online. Residents contact our support directly, so the burden doesn't land on your management staff.

One point of contact. You deal with us, not a subcontractor chain. We coordinate with management on building security protocols and, in Boston's older buildings, on not damaging what makes them worth living in.

If that didn’t work

If you've already requested a survey and haven't heard back, call (617) 693-9434 with the building address and ask for the property team.
