Boston Broadband App Privacy Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
This policy explains what the Boston Broadband app for iPhone and iPad collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. It applies to the app only; our general Privacy Policy covers the rest of our service. The app is offered by Boston Broadband Inc. and is intended for our customers and people signing up for service.
The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and your internet service. We don't track what you do online, we don't show ads, the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we never sell your information.
Information you give us
- Phone number or email address, to sign in. We send a one-time code to the phone number or email on your account; the app has no passwords.
- Account details we already hold for your service: your name, service address, phone number, email address and plan, which the app displays.
- Addresses you enter when you order service, move, or join a waitlist, along with the unit and move date.
- Orders and appointments: the plan and options you choose, install type, and the install or service visit times you book or reschedule.
- Your router's hardware (MAC) address, if you set up your own router. You can type it or scan the router's label with the camera; the scan is processed on your device and only the address is sent.
- Support messages: tickets, replies, hardship requests, upgrade requests, Wi-Fi change requests and the reason you give if you cancel.
- Payment information, when you pay a bill or save a payment method (see Payments below).
Information collected automatically
- Device name (for example, "Morgan's iPhone"), sent when you sign in so you can see and sign out of your devices under Where you're signed in.
- IP address and app version details (the request's user agent), recorded with sign-ins, sign-outs, payment-method changes and account deletion requests, for security and fraud prevention. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived request logs.
- Sign-in tokens, stored in your device's Keychain. We keep only a one-way hash of them on our servers.
The app does not access your location, contacts, photos, microphone or calendar data, does not use your device's advertising identifier, and does not monitor your browsing or the traffic on your connection. When you add an appointment to your calendar, iOS shows you the event to save; the app cannot read your calendar.
Payments
Card, bank account (ACH) and Apple Pay payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Your full card or account number goes directly from the app to Stripe and never reaches our servers; we see only the card brand or bank name, the last four digits and the expiry date. To create your Stripe customer record we share your name, email address and customer number with Stripe. Stripe's handling of your information is described in the Stripe Privacy Policy, and its app software collects some information about how the payment screen is used, to operate and improve payments and prevent fraud.
Speed test and address search
The speed test measures your connection against Cloudflare's public speed test servers, so Cloudflare receives your IP address as it would for any website. Results stay on your device; we don't receive them. When you type an address, suggestions come from Apple Maps, which receives what you type under Apple's Privacy Policy.
How we use information
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To provide, install, activate, move and support your internet service.
- To bill you, take payments and run autopay if you turn it on.
- To send the texts and emails you ask for, such as sign-in codes, appointment updates and "text me when it's back" outage alerts.
- To run the referral program: your referral code includes your first name, and people you refer can see it when they use your link.
- To comply with the law and protect our customers and network.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who helps us process it
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf, and only as needed:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Twilio — sending text messages, including sign-in codes.
- Resend — sending email, including sign-in codes.
- Cloudflare — hosting and storage for the app's servers.
- Our customer account and billing system (UISP), which holds your account, invoices, tickets and appointments.
We may also disclose information when required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers and network. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while you're a customer. Sign-in codes expire within minutes, and sign-in sessions end after 60 days without use or when you sign out. After your account closes or you ask us to delete it, we delete or de-identify your information, except billing, payment and tax records and other information we're required to keep by law, which we retain only as long as required.
Your choices
- Delete your account from the app under Account → Delete account, or by contacting us. We'll confirm with you, sign you out everywhere and delete your information as described above. Deleting your account doesn't end internet service on its own; if you still have service, we'll contact you to arrange that.
- See or correct your information in the app under Account, or ask us for a copy.
- Sign out of one device or all devices at any time.
- Stop text messages by replying STOP. See our SMS Terms.
- Camera access is optional and can be turned off in iOS Settings; you can type numbers instead.
Security
The app communicates with our servers over encrypted connections, stores sign-in tokens in the iOS Keychain, and uses short-lived access tokens. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.
Children
The app is for account holders and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
